You wish Jeremy Irons was your uncle.

The "Margin Call" star is ready to join the mystery of "Beautiful Creatures" as he's signed on for the key role of Macon Ravenwood, according to Heat Vision.

"Beautiful Creatures" is based on the first book of a trilogy by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and tells the tale of Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) and Ethan Wate (Jack O'Connell), two teenagers who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town. Macon Ravenwood (Irons) is Lena's mysterious and reclusive uncle who's probably keeping a secret or two.

Jeremy Irons joins a cast that includes Viola Davis as Amma, a "seer" and surrogate mother to Ethan; Emma Thompson in a dual role as Mrs. Lincoln, the town's resident religious zealot, and Sarafine, the dark witch who possesses her; and Emmy Rossum as Ridley, a lollipop-wielding teenage witch who harbors a grudge against Lena.

Irons can currently be seen as the lusty Rodrigo Borgia on the Showtime series, "The Borgias," and is currently filming a two-part TV movie based on Shakespeare's "Henry IV." He'll be seen later this year in "The Words," co-starring Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana and Dennis Quaid.

Production on "Beautiful Creatures" commences in April in New Orleans under the direction of Richard LaGravenese ("P.S. I Love You"), who also adapted the screenplay. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 1, 2013.
